And the best way to strengthen willpower and give students a leg up, studies indicate, is to make it into a habit.

But to change an old habit, you must address an old craving. You have to keep the same cues and rewards as before, and feed the craving by inserting a new routine.

Champions don't do extraordinary things. They do ordinary things, but they do them without thinking, too fast for the other team to react. They follow the habits they've learned.

Change might not be fast and it isn't always easy. But with time and effort, almost any habit can be reshaped.

Companies aren't families. They're battlefields in a civil war.

Small wins are a steady application of a small advantage.

Someday soon, say predictive analytics experts, it will be possible for companies to know our tastes and predict our habits better than we know ourselves.

The best agencies understood the importance of routines. The worst agencies were headed by people who never thought about it, and then wondered why no one followed their orders.

The Golden Rule of Habit Change: You can't extinguish a bad habit, you can only change it.

The key to victory was creating the right routines.

There's nothing you can't do if you get the habits right.

There's a natural instinct embedded in friendship, a sympathy that makes us willing to fight for someone we like when they are treated unjustly.

This is how willpower becomes a habit: by choosing a certain behavior ahead of time, and then following that routine when an inflection point arrives.

This is the real power of habit: the insight that your habits are what you choose them to be.

Whether selling a new song, a new food, or a new crib, the lesson is the same: If you dress a new something in old habits, it's easier for the public to accept it.

Belief is easier when it occurs within a community.

If you identify the cues and rewards, you can change the routine. At least, most of the time. For some habits, however, there's one other ingredient that's necessary: belief.

Later, he would famously write that the will to believe is the most important ingredient in creating belief in change.

We call it 'psychological safety,' she said. Psychological safety is a shared belief, held by members of a team, that the group is a safe place for taking risks.

Belief seems critical. You don't have to believe in God, but you do need the capacity to believe that things will get better.

For a habit to stay changed, people must believe change is possible. And most often, that belief only emerges with the help of a group.

Most of the choices we make each day may feel like the products of well-considered decision making, but they're not. They're habits.

Between calculated risk and reckless decision-making lies the dividing line between profit and loss.

Make a chore into a meaningful decision, and self-motivation will emerge.

Keystone habits transform us by creating cultures that make clear the values that, in the heat of a difficult decision or a moment of uncertainty, we might otherwise forget.

We have to make decisions, and that includes deciding what deserves our attention.

Bureaucrats and politicians, rather than making decisions, were responding to cues with automatic routines in order to get rewards such as promotions or reelection.

Models help us choose where to direct our attention, so we can make decisions, rather than just react.

All we can do is learn how to make the best decisions that are in front of us, and trust that, over time, the odds will be in our favor.

The Agile methodology, as it came to be known, emphasized collaboration, frequent testing, rapid iteration, and pushing decision making to whoever was closest to a problem.

Many of our most important decisions are, in fact, attempts to forecast the future.

Good decision making is contingent on a basic ability to envision what happens next.

Every choice we make in life is an experiment. Every day offers fresh opportunities to find better decision-making frames.

If you can become more motivated, more focused, better at setting goals and making good decisions, then you're a long way down the path to becoming more productive.

The more you focus, the more that focus becomes a habit.

What studies say the number one best way to start an exercise habit is to give yourself a reward that you genuinely enjoy.

The secret to making that happen, he says, is giving everyone a voice and finding people willing to be sensitive enough to listen to one another

Motivation becomes easier when we transform a chore into a choice. Doing so gives us a sense of control.

When people believe they are in control, they tend to work harder and push themselves more.

Motivation is triggered by making choices that demonstrate to ourselves that we are in control.

We praise people for doing things that are hard. That's how they learn to believe they can do them.

If you can link something hard to a choice you care about, it makes the task easier.

To teach ourselves to self-motivate more easily, we need to learn to see our choices not just as expressions of control but also as affirmations of our values and goals.

The choices that are most powerful in generating motivation are decisions that do two things: They convince us we're in control and they endow our actions with larger meaning.

Self-motivation is a choice we make because it is part of something bigger and more emotionally rewarding than the immediate task that needs doing.

Hunker down, strap in, and hold on. Hold on baby!

When you tell your kids they can be anything, you've got to be careful. I told my kids that, and I ended up with a music producer and an interior designer. But they're doing it.

Unfortunately, some of the best fathers are mothers.

I grew up without a father.

A father is everything in the world.

My stepfather was fond of letting me know, quote, 'I ain't your... damn daddy.' That was something that was painful, to put it mildly.

We can all look to our friends, family, and those we admire for inspiration.

My biggest hero was my mother. She told me every day that I could do or be anything. I knew it, I believed it, and I embraced it.

I hold one thing dearer than all else: my commitment to my son.

Everything that I learned in the Navy, I took it with me into the next phase of my life.

What can we be in life? Few figures in history have answered this question with as much clarity and moral authority as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Don't wait for the perfect time to start making changes to your life; the time is now.

I've created the life I wanted.

This part of my life, this little part is called happiness.

The balance in your life is more important than the balance in your checking account.

This part of my life is called running.

You won't find magic potions here. No matter how enticing they may seem, promises of quick fixes mostly set us up for failure and do more to deter us than empower us.

35 lessons from selling three businesses before I turned 35:

Choose to be optimistic, it feels better.

True change is within; leave the outside as it is.

In order to carry a positive action we must develop here a positive vision.

Just one small positive thought in the morning can change your whole day.

The way to change others' minds is with affection, and not anger.

The ultimate source of my mental happiness is my peace of mind. Nothing can destroy this except my own anger.

We must each lead a way of life with self-awareness and compassion, to do as much as we can. Then, whatever happens we will have no regrets.

When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.

Since periods of great change, such as the present one, come so rarely in human history, it is up to each of us to make the best use of our time to help create a happier world.

My religion is very simple. My religion is kindness.

This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness.

The whole purpose of religion is to facilitate love and compassion, patience, tolerance, humility, and forgiveness.

If you have a particular faith or religion, that is good. But you can survive without it.

Just because they're not on your road doesn't mean they've gotten lost.

The purpose of all the major religious traditions is not to construct big temples on the outside, but to create temples of goodness and compassion inside, in our hearts.

If scientific analysis were conclusively to demonstrate certain claims in Buddhism to be false, then we must accept the findings of science and abandon those claims.

I have come to the conclusion that whether or not a person is a religious believer does not matter. Far more important is that they be a good human being.

Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness.

I always tell people that religious institutions and political institutions should be separate. So while I'm telling people this, I myself continue with them combined. Hypocrisy!

I believe that whether a person follows any religion or not is unimportant, he or she must have a good heart, a warm heart.

Religion does not mean just precepts, a temple, monastery, or other external signs, for these as well as hearing and thinking are subsidiary factors in taming the mind.

We must conduct research and then accept the results. If they don't stand up to experimentation, Buddha's own words must be rejected.

World peace must develop from inner peace. Peace is not just a mere absence of violence. Peace is, I think, the manifestation of human compassion.

Do not let the behavior of others destroy your inner peace.

Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible.

We can never obtain peace in the outer world until we make peace with ourselves.

When we feel love and kindness toward others, it not only makes others feel loved and cared for, but it helps us also to develop inner happiness and peace.

If you wish to experience peace, provide peace for another.

The real destroyer of inner peace is fear and distrust. Fear develops frustration, frustration develops anger, anger develops violence.

Where ignorance is our master, there is no possibility of real peace.

Without inner peace it is impossible to have world peace.

Peace starts within each one of us. When we have inner peace, we can be at peace with those around us.

All forms of violence, especially war, are totally unacceptable as means to settle disputes between and among nations, groups and persons.

When we have inner peace, we can be at peace with those around us. When our community is in a state of peace, it can share that peace with neighboring communities.

Brute force, no matter how strongly applied, can never subdue the basic human desire for freedom.

It is a question of our own peace and mental stability.

I am a steadfast follower of the doctrine of non-violence which was first preached by Lord Buddha, whose divine wisdom is absolute.

Without changing one's self, without peace in one's self, world peace is not possible.

Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them humanity cannot survive.

We must recognize that the suffering of one person or one nation is the suffering of humanity.

It's unrealistic to think that the future of humanity can be achieved only on the basis of prayer; what we need is to take action.

If we can cultivate a concern for others, keeping in mind the oneness of humanity, we can build a more compassionate world.

Love and kindness are the very basis of society. If we lose these feelings, society will face tremendous difficulties; the survival of humanity will be endangered.

If our tears do not lead us to act then we have lost the reason for our humanity, which is compassion.

Concern yourselves more with the needs of others, with the needs of all humanity, and you'll have peace of mind.

All beings come from a mother's womb. We should have a clear realization of the oneness of all humanity.

Without technology humanity has no future, but we have to be careful that we don't become so mechanised that we lose our human feelings.

Today we understand that the future of humanity very much depends on our planet, and that the future of the planet very much depends on humanity.

World belongs to humanity, not this leader, that leader or that king or prince or religious leader. World belongs to humanity.

If you focus only on yourself and neglect others, you will lose; but you will gain if you value others as much as you cherish yourself.

My message is the practice of compassion, love and kindness.

The practicing of loving kindness toward one's enemy is the ultimate test of one's own spiritual attainment.

The key point is kindness. With kindness one will have inner peace. Through inner peace, world peace can one day be a reality.

If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.

Don't ever mistake my silence for ignorance, my calmness for acceptance or my kindness for weakness. Compassion and tolerance are not a sign of weakness, but a sign of strength.

Mentally, physically and emotionally we are the same.

On the other hand if you cultivate loving kindness, compassion and concern for others, there will be no room for anger, hatred and jealousy.

Whether one believes in a religion or not, and whether one believes in rebirth or not, there isn't anyone who doesn't appreciate kindness and compassion.

My Brain and My Heart are my Temples. My true Religion is Kindness.

Whether or not we follow any particular spiritual tradition, the benefits of love and kindness are obvious to anyone.

Live a good, honourable life. Then when you get older and look back, you'll be able to enjoy it a second time.

Our business is to be happy.

Happiness can be achieved through training the mind.

There are only two days in the year that nothing can be done. One is called Yesterday and the other is called Tomorrow. Today is the right day to Love, Believe, Do and mostly Live.

The purpose of our lives is to be happy.

Happiness mainly comes from our own attitude, rather than from external factors.

The key to human happiness lies within our own state of mind, and so too do the primary obstacles to that happiness.

It is our basic right to be a happy person, happy family, and eventually a happy world. That should be our goal.

I believe compassion to be one of the few things we can practice that will bring immediate and long-term happiness to our lives.

Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions.

A heart full of love and compassion is the main source of inner strength, willpower, happiness, and mental tranquility.

Only the development of compassion and understanding for others can bring us the tranquility and happiness we all seek.

The more we think of others, the happier we are. The more we think of ourselves, the more suffering we feel.

If we have no inner peace, we deceive ourselves into thinking that comfort and prosperity will bring happiness.

When I meet people from other cultures I know that they too want happiness and do not want suffering, this allows me to see them as brothers and sisters.

A sense of concern for others gives our lives meaning; it is the root of all human happiness.

Happiness is a state of mind. With physical comforts if your mind is still in a state of confusion and agitation, it is not happiness. Happiness means calmness of mind.

There are two kinds of satisfaction or happiness: one mainly through mental peace; another physical comfort.

The challenge today is to convince people of the value of truth, honesty, compassion and a concern for others.

The more we care for the happiness of others, the greater is our own sense of well-being.

Through violence, you may 'solve' one problem, but you sow the seeds for another.

I try to treat whoever I meet as an old friend. This gives me a genuine feeling of happiness. It is the practice of compassion.

If you can, help others; if you cannot do that, at least do not harm them.

Compassion is not religious business, it is human business, it is not luxury, it is essential for our own peace and mental stability, it is essential for human survival.

Compassion automatically brings happiness and calmness. Then, even if you receive disturbing news, it will be easier to take, as your mind is still.

The creatures that inhabit this earth-be they human beings or animals-are here to contribute, each in its own particular way, to the beauty and prosperity of the world.

Compassion is the wish to see others free from suffering.

A truly compassionate attitude toward others does not change even if they behave negatively or hurt you.

I think technology really increased human ability, but technology cannot produce compassion.

Compassion and love give meaning to our activities and make them constructive.

Compassion is the radicalism of our time.

Compassion is the wish for another being to be free from suffering; love is wanting them to have happiness.

We can live without religion and meditation, but we cannot survive without human affection.

It is under the greatest adversity that there exists the greatest potential for doing good, both for oneself and others.

Remember that the best relationship is one in which your love for each other exceeds your need for each other.

The more you are motivated by Love, The more Fearless & Free your action will be.

Take into account that great love and great achievements involve great risk.

Real love is not based on attachment, but on altruism. In this case, your compassion will remain as a humane response to suffering as long as beings continue to suffer.

One can overcome the forces of negative emotions, like anger and hatred, by cultivating their counter-forces, like love and compassion.

There should be a balance between material and spiritual progress, a balance achieved through the principles based on love and compassion.

Love is a simple practice yet it is very beneficial for the individual who practices it as well as for the community in which he lives, for the nation, and for the whole world.

Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them.

The point of life is happiness.

Give the ones you love wings to fly, roots to come back and reasons to stay.

Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck.

Because we all share this planet earth, we have to learn to live in harmony and peace with each other and with nature. This is not just a dream, but a necessity.

If someone has a gun and is trying to kill you, it would be reasonable to shoot back with your own gun.

What is the meaning of life? To be happy and useful.

Know the rules well, so you can break them effectively.

Our ancient experience confirms at every point that everything is linked together, everything is inseparable.

If you are focused on delivering value, money comes.

People buy based on emotions, and they justify it with logic.

People don't buy products or services. They buy stories.

Remember, people don't buy from you because they understand what you sell—they buy from you because they feel understood.

Smart people have good answers. Geniuses have good questions.

Social capital is a following of people who like you, trust you, support you, and are willing and capable of buying from you.

The amount of money you make is in direct proportion to how deeply you understand your marketplace's pain.

Watch how you treat those very first few people, your very first fans.

Decide who you are going to learn from.

Extreme clarity leads to extreme results.

How can you inject stories into everything you do?

Be humble. Stay open-minded. You can learn something from everybody.

It isn't about finding yourself as much as it is creating yourself.

Our problem is not that we don't have enough opportunities to make money. Our problem is that we have too many opportunities to lose it.

Remember: ignorance is not bliss, ignorance is poverty. Ignorance is an illness. Ignorance is devastation.

The law of clarity states the more clear you are about your goals and objectives, the more efficient and effective you will be able to get what you want.

The uncertainty and lack of clarity about the potential outcome is the root of the problem.

I was the invisible kid.

Lame people, blame people.

Once you know how to work hard, you need to know how to work smart.

The secret to having it all is knowing you already do.

You'll never outperform your internal self-image.

Your network is your net worth. That's why I only hang out with winners.

Your will decides your future and so your courage in oneself also be different at least from what others do.

You can be very busy and not accomplish a whole lot at the same time. Just because you're splashing in the water, doesn't mean that you're swimming.

Getting rich is not an act, it is a habit.

What gets measured, gets improved.

I was broke once, but I have never been poor. Poor is a state of mind. It is a mindset.

Once you know who you want to become, you know what actions you need to take to get there.

What I notice is, high-performance people? We are self-motivated.

The best skills can't be developed by watching a bunch of videos. They can only be developed by having a single mentor or someone to show you exactly what they did, and copy them.

The goal is not to get rich but to stay rich.

Follow the market. Follow your gifts. What are you good at? Not necessarily what are you passionate about, but what are you actually good at?

I believe most people don't know how to make money. Fewer know how to keep the money. And almost no one knows how to multiply it.

The fear of failure is an illusion. Success is true fear.

Money is like sex. You'll think of nothing else if you don't have it.

Nothing gets done without a deadline.

Wherever your attention goes, energy flows and results show.

Become so good at your skill, or at least be different enough to be irreplaceable.

It's better to be hated than ignored.

Maximum results in Minimum Time.

Today I have the greatest job in the world. I work when I want, where I want, with whom I want, doing whatever I want to do.

Your comfort zone is your income zone.

If you truly want to save others, you could only give from a place of abundance.

I'm just a guy with desire and ambition and goals. And I didn't give up. I just kept on going. Anybody can do it if they want it bad enough.

Rich people count their money regularly.

Think accomplishments, not activities.

Decide exactly what you want. What would you do for money? What would you not do for money? Where do you want to live?

Ask yourself, What would the best version of myself do?

Behind every successful man is a smarter woman.

Drowning people will pull you under.

I don't know the sure-fire way to success. But I sure as hell know the sure-fire way to failure, and that is to try to please everybody.

Money doesn't go to people who need it. It goes to people who multiply it.

You're not an entrepreneur. You haven't earned the right to be an entrepreneur – yet. Develop your high-income skill… then you can be an entrepreneur.

Geniuses are made, not born.

How many of these tasks are moving you toward the outcome you want.

If you are worried about what other people think of you, it will be very hard to get the success you want. It limits you from taking action.

Most people are addicted to their struggles.

Poor people don't count their money.

Quotes don't work until you do.

Rich people get paid before they do the work, poor people get paid afterwards.

Study done by the Wall Street Journal the number seven (7) has been found to be the number that most people respond to.

Those who can't do, criticize.

You can't get rich looking poor.

The very first rule of online marketing is, first of all, you need to know who your audience is. It's not about making noise, it's not about just getting your name out there.

You can't expect support from family and friends.

You have to learn to be alone without being lonely.

You must surround yourself with mentors, not gurus.

Facts tell, stories sell.

People don't buy their way into something, they buy their way out of something.

What's the price you are willing to pay for success?

You must determine the price that you will have to pay to achieve success, and then get busy paying that price.

The future you is depending on the current you to keep the promises you made to yourself yesterday.

Regret won't change the past. Anxiety won't change the future. So find peace in the imperfect present.

Decide what kind of life you really want and then say no to everything that isn't it.

The pursuit of 'work-life balance' often leads to more stress than it resolves.

You can't expect your employees to exceed the expectations of your customers if you don't exceed your employee's expectation of management.

We will never-and I mean never-turn our backs on our employees.

London, a city where creativity and innovation have always flourished, provides a significant home for Starbucks and a significant gateway into Europe.

Starbucks represents something beyond a cup of coffee.

More than anything else, technology will pave the way for innovative change at Starbucks. The bulk of Starbucks' innovation over the next several years will be technology-focused.

Do I take criticism of Starbucks personally? Of course I do.

I could've just walked away but I never could have forgiven myself to allow Starbucks to drift into mediocrity or not be relevant. I just couldn't be a bystander.

Starbucks is in my blood. It is such a part of me that letting it unravel simply was not an option.

Starbucks has changed the rules of engagement for the music industry.

Our history is based on extending the brand to categories within the guardrails of Starbucks.

When it comes to Starbucks, I take every threat very personally.

We need to reinvent food at Starbucks. Less could be more.

Starbucks trying to build a different kind of company around the balance of profitably and benevolence. A social conscience. And that isn't a program it has to be a way of life.

California, in a sense, is almost Starbucks' largest country, with almost 3,000 stores.

The response to the Starbucks brand has been phenomenal in our international markets.

When we began Starbucks, what I wanted to try to do was to create a set of values, guiding principles, and culture.

People around the world, they want the authentic Starbucks experience.

Starbucks has a role and a meaningful relationship with people that is not only about the coffee.

We are not in the coffee business serving people, we are in the people business serving coffee.

China traditionally has been a tea-drinking country but we turned them into coffee drinkers.

I was taken by the power that savoring a simple cup of coffee can have to connect people and create community.

The premium single-cup segment is the fastest-growing business within the global coffee industry.

I can't imagine a day without coffee. I can't imagine!

Starbucks is rekindling America's love affair with coffee, bringing romance and fresh flavor back to the brew.

There's this myth that has been exacerbated by others that Starbucks means a $4 cup of coffee, which is not true.

Don't buy preground coffee.

We think of Starbucks not as a coffee company but a media company.

My kids probably started drinking coffee in their late teens.

Watch out for the joy-stealers: gossip, criticism, complaining, fault finding, and a negative, judgmental attitude.

Set your mind that no matter what is going on in your life, you will have a good attitude.

Encourage everyone you meet with a smile or compliment. Make them feel better when you leave their presence and they will always be glad to see you coming.

A positive attitude gives you power over your circumstances instead of your circumstances having power over you.

Anytime we step out boldly to make changes, we take a chance that we might fail. But the only way to get better is to try.

We are not a failure just because we fail at something. Nobody is a failure unless they quit trying!

Individuals need to be willing to face the truth about their attitudes, behaviors, even what we want out of life.

The source of our stress isn't really difficulties, circumstances and situations-it's our attitude and approach toward them.

Is your problem really your problem, or is it your attitude towards the problem that's your problem?

Faith is having a positive attitude about what you can do and not worrying at all about what you can't do.

As long as we complain, we remain stuck in our problems. But a thankful attitude brings deliverance and makes God smile.

Don't let someone who has a bad attitude give it to you.

You can look at a person's attitude and know what kind of thinking is prevalent in his life... It's better to be positive and wrong than negative and right!

The great thing about an attitude is that it's yours and you can change it.

Patience is not just about waiting for something... it's about how you wait, or your attitude while waiting.

Refuse to be a lazy Christian, and resist a passive, apathetic attitude.

Choosing an attitude of faith will release peace out of your spirit and into your soul.

Reproach is shame, blame, disgrace, disapproval and a disrespectful attitude toward yourself. When you're under reproach, your behavior shows it.

Attitude is an inward thought that wiggles its way out.

One might say that our words are a movie screen that reveals what we have been thinking and the attitudes we have.

Hope is a favorable and confident expectation; it's an expectant attitude that something good is going to happen and things will work out, no matter what situation we're facing.

Attitude is your thought life turned inside out.

Stop giving someone else the job of making you happy.

If selfishness is the key to being miserable, then selflessness must be the key to being happy!

Make happiness a habit. Be so happy you drive the devil stark-raving mad.

Without joy in your life you are powerless.

The one thing everybody's looking for is unconditional love. We all need somebody to love us just the way we are.

You may think that if someone else doesn't change, you can never be happy. But if you change, you can be happy no matter what.

Victory is not the absence of problems, it is the presence of power.

Don't build walls and shut people out of your life. To act as if another does not exist is a mean and cruel weapon.

Teachers can change lives with just the right mix of chalk and challenges.

God has created us to be dependent upon Him, to bring Him our challenges and allow Him to help us with them.

If you refuse to be happy until you have no problems or challenges, you will probably never be happy!

Happiness is not a feeling, it is a choice. To be happy, one must choose to be happy, not respond to a circumstance that now controls your happiness.

Your joy comes from how you think, the choices that we make in life.

Forgiveness is a choice, not a feeling.

Wisdom is exercised in the choices you make.

God is a good choice to lean on. He has a proven record of faithfulness to those who commit their lives to Him.

Forgiveness is manifested mercy; it is live in action - not love based on a feeling, but love based on a decision, an intentional choice to obey God.

You can enjoy anything if you make up your mind too.

Five minutes of communication can save a year's worth of turmoil and misunderstanding.

Our television program airs to a potential audience of over 3 billion people, in many places where the people living there may have never even heard of Jesus.

We don't have to wait for something nice to happen to us, we can be aggressive and do something nice for ourselves.

Keep walking the walk, one step at a time.

I encourage you to be a person who is not afraid of responsibility. In meeting resistance you will build your strength. If you only do what is easy, you will always remain weak.

Once we know the Word of God, we have a responsibility to be obedient to it.

A lot of times, people feel that if they forgive the person who hurt them, then they will continue to take advantage of them or not take responsibility for what they did wrong.

When you're in a leadership role, you can never please all of the people all of the time. There's also a lot of responsibility that goes along with it that others may not realize.

Over the years, I've learned that a confident person doesn't concentrate or focus on their weaknesses - they maximize their strengths.

Compliment people. Magnify their strengths, not their weaknesses.

Better to have a big goal and reach half of it than to have no goal and reach all of it.

I think happiness is a goal all of us can agree on. Let's face it - we all would like to be happy.

One mistake does not have to rule a person's entire life.

Don't mourn over your bad decisions. Just start overcoming them with good ones.

We worship God with our entire life - with every decision we make and everything we do.

Faith is a decision we make about where we are going to put our trust.

We're not like robots. God promises to guide us through the Holy Spirit, but He gives us the freedom to make our own decisions.

When you need to make a decision, don't let your emotions vote.

If you want to have sustained joy, you have to not only make sure that you think right, but you also have to make decisions now that are going to guarantee some joy in the future.

We will never enjoy life unless we make a quality decision to do so.

I was afraid to let others make any decisions, because I had no confidence they would be concerned for me.

Contentment with life is not a feeling, but it is a decision we must make.

Forgiveness is not a feeling - it's a decision we make because we want to do what's right before God.

Passion is a decision about how we will approach life, before it becomes a feeling!

You can either keep walking in misery or make the decision to begin taking steps out of it.

Success in any field, but especially in business is about working with people, not against them.

Business is a human enterprise, driven and determined by people.

Your network is your destiny, a reality backed up by many studies in the newly emergent fields of social networking and social contagion theory. We are the people we interact with.

Real networking was about finding ways to make other people more successful.

By giving your time and expertise and sharing them freely, the pie gets bigger for everyone.

Poverty, I realized, wasn't only a lack of financial resources; it was isolation from the kind of people who could help you make more of yourself.

It's better to give before you receive. And never keep score. If your interactions are ruled by generosity, your rewards will follow suit.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to be the best in the world, as long as you know that doing so also means wanting to be the best for the world.

Our careers aren't paths so much as landscapes that are navigated.

Wherever you are in life right now, and whatever you know, is a result of the ideas, experiences, and people you have interacted with in your life.

Organizations can't change their culture unless individual employees change their behavior – and changing behavior is hard.

There is only one place to find real peace, real harmony. That place is within.

Who you know determines who you are—how you feel, how you act, and what you achieve.

The choice isn't between success and failure; it's between choosing risk and striving for greatness, or risking nothing and being certain of mediocrity.

If you plan your whole life, by definition you can't get lucky. So you have to leave that little slot open.

There is genius, even kindness, in being bold.

When you help someone through a health issue, positively impact someone's personal wealth, or take a sincere interest in their children, you engender life-bonding loyalty.

The problem, as I see it, isn't what you're working on, it's whom you're working with.

You can't feel in love with your life if you hate your work; and more times than not, people don't love their work because they work with people they don't like.

Power, today, comes from sharing information, not withholding it.

Until you become as willing to ask for help as you are to give it, however, you are only working half the equation.

There's no secret behind press releases. They're nothing more than two or three paragraphs describing what's memorable about your story. It is that easy.

Authenticity—the unvarnished presentation of truth

There's a scarcity of the authentic in our culture. So many people are liars:

Audacity was often the only thing that separated two equally talented men and their job titles.

People who believe that their job is to sell stuff, versus serve a community, don't do as well.

time for the new CEO to feel that he or she knows what the issues and problems are, but not enough time to have gotten his or her arms around the solutions.

Here's another one of Ferrazzi's shameless attempts at self-promotion.

well over 50 percent of Americans are unhappy at work. Many of these people are doing well, but they are doing well at something they don't enjoy.

People who instinctively establish a strong network of relationships have always created great businesses.

The currency of real networking is not greed but generosity.

But while the power of generosity is not yet fully appreciated, or applied, in the halls of corporate America, its value in the world of networks is proven.

What has become clear is that we're not just connected to others. We are the very product of the people and networks to which we are connected.

LinkedIn will immediately show you who you have in common.

Group meetings and one-on-ones using a tool like Google Hangouts, WebEx, or Skype can make you feel almost like you're in a room together, once you get comfortable using them.

To build authentic relationships you need to lead with generosity & serve them first.

Start finding future clients before you have anything to sell them. Get to know these people as friends, not potential customers.

You won't build relationships unless you let your guard down

Relationships are more like muscles – the more you work them, the stronger they become.

The relationships we weave become an exquisite and endless pattern.

Competitive edge in the industrial era was won by constantly reengineering process and systems. Today it's won by improving relationships.

Relationships are crucial to our success, no matter what we want to achieve in our lives….

Friendship is created out of the quality of time spent between two people, not the quantity.

Learning is best achieved through relationships—having the right conversations with the right people in the right context—and collaborative action.

Why go to all the trouble of meeting new people if you're not going to work on making them a part of your life?

Flirting is the promise of sex with no guarantee. A successful brand, then, is the promise and guarantee of a mind shattering experience each and every time.

You've got to create a community of colleagues and friends before you need it. Others around you are far more likely to

There are three things in this world that engender deep emotional bonds between people. They are health, wealth and children.

BEST FRIENDS are like Stars... You don't always see them, but you know they are always there

Young lovers seek perfection. Old lovers sew shreds together and see beauty in the multiplicity of patches.

Life is about work. Work is about life. And both are about people.

You have to envision yourself winning to win.

Being a leader in life takes practice - so practice!

Pick the three most interesting points about your story and make them fast, make them colorful, and make them catchy.

Uncertainty is where new value is created. Everything you want in life is on the other side of all your excuses for not trying.
Only fools seek power, and the greatest fools seek it through force.
Use justice to rule a country. Use surprise to wage war. Use non-action to govern the world.
When many people are killed, they should be mourned and lamented. Those who are victorious in war should follow the rites of funerals.
When the Way governs the world, the proud stallions drag dung carriages. When the Way is lost to the world, war horses are bred outside the city.
How could man rejoice in victory and delight in the slaughter of men?
When great armies go to war, Sorrow is the sole winner.
There is no calamity greater than lightly engaging in war.
Violence, even well-intentioned, always rebounds upon oneself.
The most powerful weapon known is the weapon of blessing. Therefore, a clever person relies on it. He wins with peace, not with war.
The slaying of multitudes should be mourned with sorrow. A victory should be celebrated with the funeral rite.
With virtue and quietness, one may conquer the world.
Empty your mind of all thoughts. Let your heart be at peace. Watch the turmoil of beings, but contemplate their return.
One cannot reflect in streaming water. Only those who know internal peace can give it to others.
Freedom from desire leads to inner peace.
If there is to be peace in the home, There must be peace in the heart.
Without law or compulsion, men would dwell in harmony.
Free from desire, you realize the mystery, caught in the desire, you see only the manifestations.
All men desire to free themselves solely from death; they do not know how to free themselves from life.
Manifest plainness, embrace simplicity, reduce selfishness, have few desires.
To understand the limitations of things, desire them.
If one desires to receive one must first give. This is called profound understanding.
Lessen selfishness and restrain desires.
Without desire there is stillness, and the world settles by itself.
There is no greater crime than desire.
I have no desire to desire, and people become like the uncarved wood by themselves.
The sage desires no desire does not value rare treasures, learn without learning, recover what people have left behind.
The True Person benefits yet expects no reward, does the work, and moves on. There is no desire to be considered better than others.
There is no greater offense than harboring desires. There is no greater disaster than discontent. There is no greater misfortune than wanting more.
Embrace simplicity. Put others first. Desire little.
I let go of all desire for the common good, and the good becomes as common as the grass.
Through a return to simple living comes control of desires. In control of desires, stillness is attained. In the stillness, the world is restored.
Life is going forth; death is returning home.
Life and death are one thread, the same line viewed from different sides.
Love is the greatest link that we have with those who have temporarily left us.
People take death lightly. They expect too much of life. That is why people take death lightly.
Truly, only acting without thought of one's life is superior to valuing one's life.
People are born soft and weak. They die hard and stiff.
All things such as grass and trees are soft and supple in life. At their death, they are withered and dry.
The hard and stiff are death's companions. The soft and weak are life's companions.
Let people take death seriously, and not travel far.
As soon as you have made a thought, laugh at it.
Pain and happiness are simply conditions of the ego. Forget the ego.
Seek not happiness too greedily and be not fearful of happiness.
He who is contented is rich.
To attain the human form must always be a source of joy. And then to undergo continuous transitions, with only the infinite to look forward to what incomparable bliss is that!
To joy in conquest is to joy in the loss of human life.
Every journey begins with a single step.
A good traveler has no fixed plans and is not intent on arriving.
Meandering leads to perfection.
Good walking leaves no track behind it.
A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step and if that step is the right step, it becomes the last step.
Even the longest journey must begin where you stand.
The journey of a thousand miles starts from beneath your feet.
Those who know do not talk. Those who talk do not know.
When the student is ready the teacher will appear.
Much knowledge will corrupt the heart When partly understood, And so the people grow too smart But neither wise nor good.
If you realize that you have enough, you are truly rich.
To become learned, each day add something. To become enlightened, each day drop something.
Learn to value what is important today in the subtle realm rather than what appears desirable tomorrow in the worldly realm.
To know yet to think that one does not know is best; Not to know yet to think that one knows will lead to difficulty.
The snow goose need not bathe to make itself white. Neither need you do anything but be yourself.
The wise are not learned, the learned are not wise.
In the pursuit of learning, every day something is acquired. In the pursuit of Tao, every day something is dropped.
A scholar who cherishes the love of comfort is not fit to be deemed a scholar.
Abandon learning and there will be no sorrow.
Be empty. Be still. Just watch everything come and go. This is the way of Nature.
He who knows how to be aggressive, and yet remains patient, becomes a receptacle for all of Nature's lessons.
Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished.
To see things in the seed, that is genius.
Nature doesn't make long speeches.
Because clarity and enlightenment are within your own nature, they are regained without moving an inch.
Remember: if you can cease all restless activity, your integral nature will appear.
Nature is not human hearted.
Take time to listen to what is said without words, to obey the law too subtle to be written, to worship the unnameable, and to embrace the unformed.
Time is a created thing. To say 'I don't have time' is to say 'I don't want to.'
A terrace nine stories high begins with a pile of earth.
Worlds and particles, bodies and beings, time and space: All are transient expressions of the Tao.
There is a time to live and a time to die but never to reject the moment.
To avoid disappointment, know what is sufficient. To avoid trouble, know when to stop. If you are able to do this, you will last a long time.
If you know when to stop, you'll suffer no harm. And in this way you can last a very long time.
Live in a good place. Keep your mind deep. Treat others well. Stand by your word. Make fair rules. Do the right thing. Work when it's time.
If you realize that all things change, there is nothing you will try to hold on to. If you are not afraid of dying, there is nothing you cannot achieve.
All difficult things have their origin in that which is easy, and great things in that which is small.
If you do not change direction, you may end up where you are heading.
Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.
New beginnings are often disguised as painful endings.
When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be.
If you correct your mind, the rest of your life will fall into place.
Water is the softest thing, yet it can penetrate mountains and earth. This shows clearly the principle of softness overcoming hardness.
Have patience. Wait until the mud settles and the water is clear. Remain unmoving until right action arises by itself.
In the world there is nothing more submissive and weak than water. Yet for attacking that which is hard and strong nothing can surpass it.
Trying to understand is like straining through muddy water. Be still and allow the mud to settle.
The best people are like water, which benefits all things and does not compete with them. It stays in lowly places that others reject. This is why it is so similar to the Way.
The fish cannot leave the deep waters. The state's weaponry should not be displayed.
Obscure, like muddy waters.
Supreme good is like water. Water greatly benefits all things, without conflict. It flows through places that people loathe. Thereby it is close to the Way.
Nothing on earth is so weak and yielding as water, but for breaking down the firm and strong it has no equal.
Only by working within the laws that govern the flow of water will happiness be achieved.
Nothing is weaker than water, Yet for overcoming what is hard and strong, Nothing surpasses it.
Muddy water, let stand, becomes clear.
Who is there who can make muddy waters clear? But if allowed to remain still, it will gradually clear itself.
Nothing is softer or more flexible than water, yet nothing can resist it.
Water benefits the ten thousand things and does not oppose them.
Be careful what you water your dreams with. Water them with worry and fear and you will produce weeds that choke the life from your dream.
Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.
Because of a great love, one is courageous.
Love is of all passions the strongest, for it attacks simultaneously the head, the heart and the senses.
In the Way of Heaven, there is no partiality of love; it is always on the side of the good man.
Love the whole world as if it were your self; then you will truly care for all things.
The sage wears clothes of coarse cloth but carries jewels in his bosom; He knows himself but does not display himself; He loves himself but does not hold himself in high esteem.
By the accident of fortune a man may rule the world for a time, but by virtue of love and kindness he may rule the world forever.
Whatever is flexible and living will tend to grow; whatever is rigid and blocked will wither and die.
In the Golden Age, Rulers were unknown. In the following age, Rulers were loved and praised. Next came the age When rulers were feared. Finally, the age When rulers are hated.
He who loves does not dispute: He who disputes does not love.
When pure sincerity forms within, it is outwardly realized in other people's hearts.
He who overcomes others has force; he who overcomes himself is strong.
At the center of your being you have the answer; you know who you are and you know what you want.
Music in the soul can be heard by the universe.
A good traveler leaves no tracks. Good speech lacks fault-finding.
To have little is to possess.
Hold on to the center and make up your mind to rejoice in this paradise called life.
The way to use life is to do nothing through acting, The way to use life is to do everything through being.
Why do the people think so little of death? Because the rulers demand too much of life. Therefore the people take death lightly.

There is no more important platform for Oracle than HP and Itanium.

I don't think Oracle and IBM want another Microsoft in Red Hat.

Oracle applications are ideally suited for rapid implementations because our e-business suite is complete and integrated - no application customizations are required,

The Oracle salesperson gets credit for the Sun sale. I think the Oracle salesperson will appreciate the help of the Sun sales force in making quota.

We think Microsoft is a very serious competitor going forward in the applications business. It's not simply going to be Oracle versus SAP.

In a single step, Oracle becomes the number one CRM applications company in the world,

In a single step, Oracle becomes the No1 CRM applications company in the world.

He's always thought I was taking too much of a risk by holding on to my Oracle (stock).

I can check the Oracle stock price with this, ... and then maybe decide to pick up some more stock with it.

The majority of the people being laid off are Oracle employees, not Siebel employees.

We think of Microsoft as our major competitor in the database business, not IBM,

In most companies, one database replaces dozens of Exchange servers,

No one has ever done this before. We think it will be a huge market and we think it will help drive database growth for years to come.

Our target has been low double-digit growth for databases, so we were not that far off.

This is going to be an outstanding year for applications growth - don't let the 42 percent fool you.

I don't think that's an unreasonable target, ... through a combination of acquisitions and organic growth.

The growth rate is also higher than our database business. It's a sticky business with the license renewals and is on the high end of our value chain.

The growth of corporate intranets and the World Wide Web is driving demand for both the Oracle8i database and our applications,

What is Oracle? It's people. We rely on our HR department to build this organization, to help find those people, to help grow those people.

When I was a kid a long time ago, when the sun rose, I was outside on my bike. If my parents were lucky - poor parents! - I would be home before it got dark.

We used to be friends a long time ago, ... a good deal of social time with Bill. Less so recently.

At one time we highlighted BEA for a possible acquisition, but less so now. We have passed them up...and they don't really want to be bought.

If I see Danny Hillis quoted as an expert on MPP one more time, I'm going to puke.

A lot of things are based on fashion. Even morality at times is based on fashion.

I think I am very goal oriented. I'd like to win the America's cup. I'd like Oracle to be the No 1 software company in the world. I still think it is possible to beat Microsoft.

I love sailing. I like it more when I am winning.

Winning is not enough. All others must lose.

When fashion and the pursuit of love is in conflict with reason, too often, fashion in the pursuit of love wins. In my case it didn't.

We certainly wanted to win every deal, win every game. We wanted to be the Miami Dolphins, have a 100-percent winning season.

As the Internet grows, that's driving our top line, ... Last quarter, our software business grew 30 percent.

Despite what everyone says, our software is actually cheaper.

Really great blogs do not take the place of great microprocessors. Great blogs do not replace great software. Lots and lots of blogs does not replace lots and lots of sales.

We decided to abandon the consulting business and go into the software business. A software product offered the ultimate leverage: built it once and sell it over and over again.

We're trying to change the nature of the software business and make it much less labor-intensive.

Oracle Software Powers the Internet.

They don't call it the Internet anymore, they call it cloud computing. I'm no longer resisting the name. Call it what you want.

We think a modern cloud lets you decide when you want to upgrade. We don't decide for you.

Oracle's got 100+ enterprise applications live in the #cloud; today, SAP's got nothin' but SuccessFactors until 2020.

We'll make cloud computing announcements. I'm not going to fight this thing.

Life is a miracle…

We work because work is an act of creation. We identify with it… I look at the company and I think, 'This is me.' But that's not my whole life.

Life is short. I'm not going to spend every minute of it with Oracle.

A Latin teacher once told me that the 'F' she gave me would ruin my life. I didn't believe it and told her so. A little letter in a square box? It all seemed so silly.

I enjoy competition. I think life is a series of acts of discovery. We're all interested in discovering our own limits.

I didn't take off three months… I've never been gone for more than a month at Oracle in my life.

I've been in fairly serious relationships most of my life. It's true.

I like putting myself in demanding, challenging situations. But not to the point where my life is really at risk.

I work very hard at being a good CEO for Oracle. But at the same time I can't stop living my life.

Life is a miracle and I don't want to spend it just doing Oracle.

Goals are only important if they win games.

Every player in my position wants to score goals.

It's scoring goals that's great, whether against Brazil or anybody else.

I like to score goals but I also like to have friends among the people I have played with.

For my part, I try to do my bit to make people's lives more bearable, in particular children across the globe who are having problems.

Being a bit famous now gives me the opportunity to help people who really need it, especially children.

I have fun like a child in the street. When the day comes when I'm not enjoying it, I will leave football.

I use Herbalife products on and off the field for energy and focus. That way I can play my best game.

What I do is play football, which is what I like.

Money doesn't thrill me or make me play better because there are benefits to being wealthy. I'm just happy with a ball at my feet.

I don't need the best hairstyle or the best body. Just give me a ball at my feet and I'll show you what I can do.

I am more worried about being a good person than being the best football player in the world.

In football as in watchmaking, talent and elegance mean nothing without rigour and precision.

Give the opponents more than one reason to stare at your feet.

We are at a good level. Our secret is that we play the same way against each opponent.

I am the happiest man alive and I am happy for myself, for my family and for my country.

We know that we are close to making history.

I had said I didn't mind which shirt I played in, but coming from Diego, № 10 is very special.

I still have a lot of room for improvement. For example, I want to shoot equally well with both feet.

There's no doubt. Its certain that ill be 100 percent

I would pass onto any young player to enjoy your football, play your football as you want to play the game, try and enjoy it and make the most of it.

You have to show up in the World Cup, and in the World Cup anything can happen.

It is not coincidence that at Barcelona we have low-key lifestyles and we have been successful. We know we are football players and not movie stars.

Today I am the happiest man in the world, my son was born and thanks to God for this gift.

When my son will be born, my first goal will be for him. The rest will be as always for my grandmother.

I always thought I wanted to play professionally, and I always knew that to do that I'd have to make a lot of sacrifices.

It takes sacrifice as well as talent.

You have to sacrifice and work hard for it.

This is why I didn't go out to parties and many other things. I am successful because I made sacrifices for success.

I always thought about carrying on training and working, chasing my dream.

I used to serve tea at a shop to support my football training.

Motivation is not something I struggle with. I love playing football, I love being in training.

Don't hope for a life without problems, the panda said. There's no such thing. Instead, hope for a life full of good problems.

You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life.

Facebook is all about information and helping people share it.

Facebook is inherently viral.

More than four million businesses have Pages on Facebook that they use to have a dialogue with their customers.

The point of Facebook isn't the features, it's the people.

You know, you really don't need a forensics team to get to the bottom of this. If you guys were the inventors of Facebook, you'd have invented Facebook.

If Facebook were a country, it would be the 8th most populated in the world, just ahead of Japan.

Connecting the world is really important, and that is something that we want to do. That is why Facebook is here on this planet.

I actually don't read most of the coverage about Facebook. I try to learn from getting input from people who use our services directly more than from pundits.

The thing that's been really surprising about the evolution of Facebook is - I think then, and I think now - that if we didn't do this, someone else would have done it.

When Facebook was getting started, nothing used real identity - everything was anonymous or pseudonymous - and I thought that real identity should play a bigger part than it did.

The world isn't set up equally, and the first billion people using Facebook have way more money than the rest of the world combined.

It only took me two weeks to build the first version of Facebook because I had so much stuff before then.

Of course, hate speech and racism have no place on Facebook.

In a lot of ways Berlin is a symbol for me of Facebook's mission: bringing people together, connecting people and breaking down boundaries.

I personally don't invest in a lot of companies because I think it would be a conflict of interest and Facebook doesn't typically either.

What Facebook stands for in the world is giving people a voice and spreading ideas and rationalism.

When I started Facebook from my dorm room in 2004, the idea that my roommates and I talked about all the time was a world that was more open.

People love photos. Photos originally weren't that big a part of the idea for Facebook, but we just found that people really like them, so we built out this functionality.

We also have a dog. His name's Beast. He's a sheepdog. He's super cute. I love him.

If you actually do something you love it's a lot easier and takes on a lot more purpose.

I know it sounds corny, but I'd love to improve people's lives, especially socially… Making the world more open is not an overnight thing. It's a ten-to-fifteen-year thing.

We have these services that people love and that are drivers of data usage... and we want to work this out, so that way, it's a profitable model for our partners.

Hollywood has nothing to do with real life.

Helping a billion people connect is amazing, humbling and by far the thing I am most proud of in my life.

Some random dude just said this to me: I know people always ask you for money so I won't. A car would be nice though.

I like to walk, I'm just really random.

Can I be the new Twitter CEO?

I spent the last week in Antartica without signal, what did I miss?

I have zero idea how to use a comma, punctuation, or spell 82% of the English language. I used to edit videos in the back of high school English class.

I never used any of the high level math I was taught in high school.

I unironically had someone ask me for a picture today because I'm in Fortnite.

If you drink coke and then eat mentos does your stomach explode?

I was handing out $10,000 on Halloween and one kid tried to trade the $10k for candy.

One path to a happy life is to retain a sense of wonder.

A rational person can find peace by cultivating indifference to things outside their control.

Happiness is a state where nothing is missing

If you're smart, you should be able to figure out how to be happy. Otherwise, you're not that smart.

Relax you'll live longer and perform better.

That's the fundamental delusion — that there is something out there that will make you happy forever.

Happiness is more about peace than it is about joy.

True happiness comes out of peace. Peace comes out of many things, but it comes from fundamentally understanding yourself.

Nothing you do is going to matter that much in the long run. Don't take yourself so seriously.

The most important trick to be happy is to realize that happiness is a skill that you develop and a choice that you make. You choose to be happy, and then you work at it.

One reason to meditate is to prove to yourself how little you actually need out of life.

Desire is a contract that you make with yourself to be unhappy until you get what you want.

Ruminating on the past is largely a waste of time. It's illusory.

The modern mind is overstimulated and the modern body is understimulated and overfed. Meditation, exercise, and fasting restore an ancient balance.

A fit body, a calm mind, a house full of love. These things cannot be bought – they must be earned.

If you want to be a philosopher-king first become a king then become a philosopher. Not first become a philosopher and then become a king.

Wealth buys your freedom

Status is your ranking in the social hierarchy.

Specialization is for insects. I don't believe in this model of trying to focus your life on one thing. You've got one life just do everything you want.

Say no to more things to protect your time because it's very precious. On your dying day, you will give everything you have for another day.

You want to be rich and anonymous, not poor and famous.

The older the problem, the older the solution.

You have one life. You're dead for tens of billions of years, and you're going to be dead for tens of billions of years.

Most of our suffering comes from avoidance.

If you have an unswerving desire to do something, then usually you'll get it.

No one is going to value you more than you value yourself.

Sing the song that only you can sing, write the book that only you can write, build the product that only you can build… live the life that only you can live

No matter how high your bar is, raise it.

All the returns in life, whether in wealth, relationships, or knowledge, come from compound interest.

The most important skill for getting rich is becoming a perpetual learner.

Embrace accountability and take business risks under your own name. Society will reward you with responsibility, equity, and leverage.

Still stuck? Here are four questions to get you going:

I'm trying not to pay too much attention to the rankings because calculations can distract you.

I always try to adjust to the situation.

I always try to have something that keeps my mind relaxed, keeps my mind a little bit off tennis.

I always try to show my human side to my colleagues and to the whole circuit. More than anything because we are all on the same train, it is part of our work.

I know that success does not come at once, it is not a thing achieved overnight. It is the result of many, many, many years of working and trying to achieve goals.

I always tried to win. I was as competitive as I am today.

Tennis is my life, obviously; I need to focus, I need to win. But it's not the only thing. I'm not going to play forever.

I lost to a better player who played some courageous tennis and deserved to win.

I want to win and I feel that pressure, but my career will not be a disaster if I do not win there. It is a dream to fulfill.

The winner is the one who believes in victory more.

I don't like to compare years, honestly. I think every year is a different experience, a different challenge. You grow. You evolve as a person and as a player.

Tennis is a mental game. Everyone is fit, everyone hits great forehands and backhands.

I have always valued the care for my body, and my mind and had a holistic approach to life. I always thought this is of utmost importance for my tennis.

It was very unusual for a boy to play tennis in my country.

Obsession is a negative word, I do not think that obsession can bring positive things. Not only in tennis but, I mean in any situation of life.

I haven't been in tennis for that long, but what I can say is that we have a lot of young guys at the top who are willing to do a lot of good things for tennis in general.

I'm trying to enjoy my life as much as I can and I know that tennis hopefully is going to be my life for the next 10, 15 years.

Nobody actually played tennis in my family.

I am the greatest tennis player. The other players are like coins in my pocket that I give to a homeless man.

My mother is a special story. She went through so much to bring us up, four men at home, especially when our country was going through really difficult times.

I'm happy, my family's happy, everything is going well.

My father believed in me many times more than I believed in myself.

My father never talked about the sacrifices that the family made for me.

I'm very fortunate to have the support of the people around me. I feel happy because my wife helps me and people who are close.

I had a nice childhood. War and all the experiences affected me as a person and helped me to grow, to change.

I am grateful for life. And also to the people who have brought me here. Without them, I could not be where I am now.

I had a unique privilege to have a good start in life and a chance to develop my talents.

I've had my ups and downs in my private life.

My grandfather went through a lot in his life.

When my boy arrived in this life, on this planet, it was completely a new dimension of experience for me and my wife. I'm still riding on the wave of that experience.

It has been the best thing that has ever happened in my life

What I learned as a young child continues to have a tremendous impact on my life today.

We are big rivals, we played so many times against each other, there's a lot of tension. There's a lot at stake. I'm expecting a great fight in two days.

I was solid, I was determined, focused. In important points and moments I managed to stay composed and make him play an extra shot.

I'm in love with the game and it's not difficult to prepare myself in the off season and to set new goals.

Of course it gives you an option to survive the group stage with lost matches but I'm not considering losing any matches.

He has a big serve, the serve gets him out of trouble. I know him very well. I have played with him many, many times. We are great friends. Great guy.

Credit to him for playing some solid, consistent tennis, always making me play an extra shot, luckily for me, I managed to bounce back, dig myself out of this hole I was in.

All in all it was better than the first match and hopefully it is going to progress in that way.
I have always believed that each man makes his own happiness and is responsible for his own problems. It is a simple philosophy.
There are things money can't buy and hard work can't win. One of them is happiness.

Pre-suasion is the practice of getting people sympathetic to your message before they experience it.

To change minds a pre-suader must also change states of mind.

Optimal persuasion is achieved thru optimal pre-suasion; positioning people to agree with a message before knowing what's in it.

Mysteries can be a great pre-suasive tool. They prompt people to want to listen more deeply and retain information to solve that mystery.

Before introducing their message, a masterful pre-suader arranges to make their audience sympathetic to it.

you're much more persistent when you're confident in your abilities.

He who wants to persuade should put his trust not in the right argument, but in the right word.

But more telling for me as a persuasion scientist attuned to pre-suasive approaches was how Mr. Buffett began that all-important section.

The best persuaders become the best through pre-suasion – the process of arranging for recipients to be receptive to a message before they encounter it.

What we present first changes the way people experience what we present to them next.

The guiding factor in a decision is often not the one that counsels most wisely; it's one that has recently been brought to mind.

We can be brought to the mistaken belief that something is important merely because we have been led by some irrelevant factor to give it our narrowed attention.

The greatest recall occurred for details of ads that the researchers stopped five to six seconds before their natural endings.

The concept pre-loaded with associations most damaging to immediate assessments and future dealings is untrustworthiness, along with its concomitants, such as lying and cheating.

When we grasp something fluently – that is, we can picture or process it quickly and effortlessly – we not only like that thing more but also think it is more valid and worthwhile.

Background cues in one's physical environment can guide how one thinks there.

What we give first should be experienced as meaningful, unexpected, and customized.

When we see evidence of the increased frequency of an action, it elevates our judgements of the act's moral correctness.

A communicator who references a weakness early on is immediately seen as more honest.

Any constraint on access increased the worth of what was being offered.

If one romantic partner agrees to pray for the other's well-being every day for an extended period of time, he or she becomes less likely to be unfaithful while doing so.

Acting together – in motoric, vocal, or sensory ways – can serve as a surrogate for being together in a kinship unit.

The help wasn't rooted in rationality at all. It was spontaneous, intuitive, and based on an emotional sense of connection that naturally accompanies shared musical engagement.

Good-looking people are aware that other people's positive evaluations of them are not based on their actual traits and abilities but are often caused by an attractiveness halo

those who cheat for you will cheat against you.

People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care.

The way to love anything is to realize that it might be lost.

If what you do before your request is seen as a ploy to get a yes, your relationship could pay the price.

Reciprocity is part of a healthy ongoing relationship. Nurture it by giving before asking for a request.

When we like someone, we are more receptive to their ideas.

We like people who are similar to us. This fact seems to hold true whether the similarity is in the area of opinions, personality traits, background, or life-style.

One of the keys to happiness involves purposely focusing attention to the positive aspects in your life.

Nothing in life is as important as you think it is while you are thinking about it.

Just as amino acids can be called the building blocks of life, associations can be called the building blocks of thought.

Revolutionaries are more likely to be those who have been given at least some taste of a better life.

There is a natural human tendency to dislike a person who brings us unpleasant information, even when that person did not cause the bad news.

First, we seem to assume that if a lot of people are doing the same thing, they must know something we don't.

Observers trying to decide what a man is like look closely at his actions.

The more you identify yourself as being a member of a particular group, the more unified you will feel with others in the group.

once a person's self-image is altered, all sorts of subtle advantages become available to someone who wants to exploit that new image.

When it comes to freedoms, it is more dangerous to have given for a while than never to have given at all.

Arguing against your self-interest creates a perception of honesty and trustworthiness, putting you in a more persuasive position.

People who learn they have something significant in common like each other more, leading to more cooperation and liking.

I think very early on in life we all learn what we're good at and what we're not good at, and we stay where it's safe.

It's really a full-time job to manage our lives.

There is a hidden blessing in the most traumatic things we go through in our lives. My brain always goes to, 'Where is the hidden blessing? What is my gift?'

Education affects every major challenge we face in society. It creates economic growth, paves the way for peace and stability and helps erase the legacy of marginalization.

People think I like to expose my body. But I don't. It's just because the dance moves require it.

I was unaware of the dispute in Brooklyn. I would never knowingly wear any clothes or support any company who produced clothing with alleged wage and labor violations.

You want to be skinny and have a good body? You have to work out every day and say no to certain foods.

I always believed that women have rights and that there are some women that are intelligent enough to claim those rights. There are some others that are stupid enough not to.

I started the Pies Descalzos foundation in Colombia when I was 18, and since then I have been very involved in the crusade for education.

I can be like a lioness when defending my people.

For several years I worried a lot about protecting an image, but today I have understood that the image cannot be preconceived.

It's not easy to work with me, I recognize that. It's not easy if those people aren't as perfectionistic as I am.

I can't wait for the time when curves and a little belly fat will be sexy again!

I'm a perfectionist in recovery. I'm trying to deal with that monster inside of me that wants to do everything right. Or better than right.

We've built six schools in Colombia and do work in South Africa and Haiti. We teach 5,000 students.

Education is the only way forward in Latin America and developing countries in general.

We need to provide higher quality and innovative early childhood development programs all throughout Latin America.

In Colombia, education is sometimes considered a luxury, not a human right. And it's not a priority in the agendas of many leaders.

I wish that one of my children will be like the Australian guy from the Discovery Channel show. The crocodile hunter.

I believe education is the key. As an activist and a child of the developing world, I witnessed education's power to transform lives.

I always had the intuition, even as a little child, that I was called for a big project.

There is no other investment that has the kind of social multiplier effect that early education has. It is an incredible thing to nurture and watch grow and spread.

My main hope for my children would be that whatever profession or calling they choose in life, that they pursue it with passion.

The first years of a child's life are too important for a child's future - their development, earnings, behavior, and health - for anyone to ignore.

We have to demand that governments live up to their promises and make education a reality for every child.

By giving every child a fair start, we are improving our collective future, including the private sector's ability to find talent in a very competitive global marketplace.

I don't think I would want my children to enter into my profession. There's a lot of stress and so much competition. There are easier things you can do with your life.

Our leaders are lacking love, and love is lacking leaders.

I love reading about history. Sometimes, I feel I was born in the wrong era. There was more creativity in the air when people were still discovering new worlds.

Relationships have to have a give and take if they're going to work in the long term.

Everyone can know what is in my heart because I find it hard to conceal myself.

A good fragrance should have a certain personality that makes people identify the scent with you.

I just want to grow old with a man who takes care of me, and I want to eventually have kids and want them to be good children to me. Just want to be treated nice and have respect.

I admire a person who, for the love of art, is able to take off their clothes in front of a camera. But I'm not capable, I'm too cowardly for that.

I'm like a mosquito, I love humidity. I don't sweat.

I think, if you can prove the existence of God, it can only be proven through love.

I always knew that I was tremendously creative. I recited love poems, I wrote stories and I got excellent grades in every subject, except for maths.

I love food, and I'm a chronic over-orderer at restaurants.

I was a real mummy's girl - still am. And as for my father, well, I have an Oedipus complex I'm still working out. I love that man!

When you have a baby, when you feel his love, you feel so at peace with the world. You just want to share the good news and share how happy you feel.

Seeing me in love is a constant state: there are no questions, as the answer is simply there.

I think love is something that you have to work on, and it develops over experience and time. Love is a practice.

I'm lucky to have family around me. Otherwise, I'll be taking the risk of falling in love with myself.

Becoming a mother has taught me to simplify things and also to appreciate being at home more.

Guys don't like women telling them what to do. It reminds them of their mothers, or something like that.

I came to understand that I'm never going to be the perfect mother, but I'm going to do the best I can. Same goes for everything in my life.

Gerard and I pretty much share all parenting responsibilities, although I'm definitely the disciplinarian.

Growing up with a working mom is a start. I also think their dad is a good example of a modern man to emulate.

Gerard doesn't tell me what to do. We discuss everything as a couple, as I imagine most partners do. We have a beautiful relationship and one of mutual trust.

I've written many love songs for Gerard. But it's never enough. I feel that he deserves a million love songs written for him.

With pregnancy and nursing, the hormones mean your skin tends to be more sensitive to the light, so it's very important to use sun block every day.

I have two kids, a career, and a man that takes a lot of my attention and time.

My man, Gerard, prefers meat over bone. That takes the pressure off. I already have a lot to worry about.

I didn't expect babies to need so many diapers. Nobody told me they needed to be changed so often.

Breastfeeding has been one of the best experiences of my life. I love it! I can't stop! I think I'm going to breastfeed him until he goes to college! I'm hooked!

In this life, to earn your place you have to fight for it.

You can't achieve anything in life without a small amount of sacrifice.

Scars remind me of just how far that I've come.

Live your life to the fullest.

I think it's my energy and love of life that has been the real key to my fame and success.

You collect impressions from people, from life, from your own daydreams.

It doesn't matter if you are a musician, a business leader, a president or a student. We all have a responsibility to give back.

There's no better makeup than self-confidence.

In the full light of day, I don't want to think about the sunset.

I've always thought of myself as a woman who works hard, believes in herself, and wants to accomplish as much as possible. Shakira

You have to be very strong and tough-minded if you want to survive.

I never went to the gym before in my life. But, at 32, I notice that my body responds negatively to bad food, so I must make double the effort.

It doesn't bother me to talk about my private life, it doesn't bother me to talk about anything. My life is like a glass of water, transparent.

I did not want to spend the rest of my life not being able to ride in a nice car.

I have gone through a lot of things, everything that you can imagine in life, but the best has been Gerard and Milan.

Life is a soccer field, don't you think?

I just don't find marriage a necessary step in a couple's life.

It is better to disappoint people with the truth than to appease them with a lie.

You can easily judge the character of a man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him.

If you want to feel happy, do something for yourself. If you want to feel fulfilled, do something for someone else.

You don't just sit in the car and let some guy drive you through life, wasting your time.

The problem in our community is not the women - I mean, they've done all they can do.

Hip-hop is a beautiful thing. I think that the music genre itself has created more millionaires than any other music genre before it, especially in our community.

Our only teachers and role models for our young men cannot be, you know, videos, and, the hip hop community.

The hip hop community is not at fault here - I'm definitely not blaming them. But, that can't be the only view of manhood for our young men.

A person has to remember that the road to success is always under construction. You have to get that through your head. That it is not easy becoming successful.

I'm just a living witness that you can be an imperfect soldier and still be in the army fighting for God Almighty. Don't you think you got to be perfect 'cause I ain't.

How can smart women be so stupid about men sometimes? Lack of knowledge. It's what men have kept secret for so long.

A guy that's really serious about you, he's gotta be talking to you, he's gotta want to have one-on-one, in-your-face interaction. That's how we are.

You can be happy, or you can be right. If you want to be part of a couple and win every argument, you're in trouble.

You've got to quit lowering your standards. Set your requirements up front so when a guy hooks you, he has to know this is business.

You've got to be in a bad relationship to really understand what a great one is.

I tell people I'm a stand-up comedian two hours a week. The rest of the time, I'm somebody's husband, I'm somebody's father. I'm a man. I take great pride in that.

I was raised by a mother who was a Sunday school teacher and a father who worked hard. Together they taught me to give back.

My father instilled in me to take care of my family. Show up even when you don't want to show up.

What you want most out of life is the thing you have to give the most of.

I can't cuss and tell jokes the rest of my life. I gotta say something meaningful. I gotta give something back to a Creator who has given so much to me.

The cookie is the critical part. It's a word I created for sex and you've got to give a man all three things. If you miss one out, he is going to find it somewhere else.

I think that we, as the African-American men in hip-hop, have a greater responsibility because we have the ears of so many millions of our young people. And they listenin'.

My mother raised me in the church. I was not allowed to stay home on Sunday; there was no option. I sang in the choir all the way up until I went to college.

Boys shack. Men build homes.

Other than my foundation - mentoring programs - everything I do is for money.

The mentoring program [of the Steve Harvey foundation] is to teach young boys the principles of manhood.

My mother was a Sunday school teacher. So I am a byproduct of prayer. My mom just kept on praying for her son.

I'm not a good mother at all.

I don't let nobody sign for my money. Me and my wife write our own checks. So, if there's some money missing, we know how it got missing.

If you pray about it don't worry about it. If you're going to worry about it don't pray about it.

The only way woman can truly be completely satisfied is to get herself four different men-an old one, an ugly one, a Mandingo, and a gay guy.

Comedians walk out, get a feel for the crowd. If it's not going good, we change directions. If we got to drag your momma into this thing, we will. Whatever we got to do.

Look dawg, I know selling the tickets was wrong. But look, I took the 2 grand I made and bought Lovita a real nice Rolex watch. So I got 1950 left.

I can't go to jail, not with his soft skin and these boyish good looks. I'll be snapped up before the first lights out!

This year, all students will be wearing clothes under their graduation outfits or we will press charges!

T-bone you can't talk to Ced like that, just cause your life is messed up. It ain't his fault your third wife left you for your second wife.

I was looking at my coffin choices, I was thinking about getting the player's special, the one with the diamo.

I take my brand very seriously.

If you want to be successful you have to jump, there's no way around it. If you're safe, you'll never soar.

What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Failure means you've now learned another valuable lesson that pushes you one step closer to success.

Your career is what you're paid for. Your calling is what you're made for.

A person has to remember that the road to success is always under construction. You have to get that through your head. That it is not easy becoming successful.

Procrastination will delay your change! Today is a very good day to change; don't let you stop yourself from growing.

Your gift is something that you can do innately better than anything else.

Forgiveness is for you. It does more for you than the other person.

You can't go forward and backwards at the same time.

I pay attention to every minute of the day.

If you are waking up with the sensation that there has got to be more in life…then there is.

Catch fire today! Make today the day you stop complaining and do something.

Growth is in a series of mistakes. That's the only way you learn.

If you can see it in your mind, you can hold it in your mind.

There's no such thing as luck. These are blessings. God endows them upon you, He makes you a blessing to become a blessing.

People don't like to hear the truth out here because the truth makes them think.

My calling is to help people, to teach people, to share with people, until I die. I can never stop doing that. I can't, and I don't want to.

When you're happy at home, you can make a lot of things happen.

The number one cause of failure in this country is the fear of failure.

The most successful people in this world recognize that taking chances to get what they want is much more productive than sitting around being too scared to take a shot.

There has been nothing more impactful on my life and meaningful to me than the introduction of christ. That, hands down, blows away every joke I've ever written.

I'm a comedian first. I've learned how to act. I just draw on life experiences and that's how I learned. I didn't take classes or anything. I don't need no classroom.

Wake up and smile! Wake up and be grateful!

Do not ignore your gift. Your gift is the thing you do the absolute best with the least amount of effort.

I am from the hood; I never had nothing. Now that I have something, I must give back.

When you're up in life, your friends get to know who you are. When you're down in life, you get to know who your friends are.

Sometimes out of your biggest misery, comes your greatest gain.

Your reality is yours. Stop wasting time looking at someone else's reality while doing nothing about yours.
If you could kick the person in the pants responsible for most of your trouble, you wouldn't sit for a month.

The man who loves other countries as much as his own stands on a level with the man who loves other women as much as he loves his own wife.
This country has nothing to fear from the crooked man who fails. We put him in jail. It is the crooked man who succeeds who is a threat to this country.

A revolution is sometimes necessary, but if revolutions become habitual the country in which they take place is going down-hill.
A good Navy is not a provocation to war. It is the surest guarantee of peace.
Profanity is the parlance of the fool. Why curse when there is such a magnificent language with which to discourse?
Life brings sorrows and joys alike. It is what a man does with them - not what they do to him - that is the true test of his mettle.
Wars are, of course, as a rule to be avoided; but they are far better than certain kinds of peace.
We must diligently strive to make our young men decent, God-fearing, law-abiding, honor-loving, justice-doing and also fearless and strong.
After the war, and until the day of his death, his position on almost every public question was either mischievous or ridiculous, and usually both.
No triumph of peace is quite so great as the supreme triumphs of war.
Councils of War never fight.
I am rather more apt to read old books than new ones.
Germany has reduced savagery to a science, and this great war for the victorious peace of justice must go on until the German cancer is cut clean out of the world body.
No triumph of peace can equal the armed triumph of war.
War with evil; but show no spirit of malignity toward the man who may be responsible for the evil. Put it out of his power to do wrong.
The sons of all of us will pay in the future if we of the present do not do justice in the present.
The most ultimately righteous of all wars is a war with savages.
A just war is in the long run far better for a man's soul than the most prosperous peace.

In life, as in football, the principle to follow is to hit the line hard.

I don't think golf has ever been any pressure as far as having to succeed.

I will be a better golfer, I will be a better person, I will be a better father, I will be a better husband, I will be a better friend.

I want to be what I've always wanted to be: dominant.

Talent is something you are born with, and a skill is something you develop. 99% of what you need to succeed in golf are skills.

If you gone come in second, you're just the first loser!

Golf is evolving, every day, every shot.

I do not look back at what might have been. If I did that, playing golf would drive me crazy.

Tiger, come on now, you've still got work to do. This round and golf tournament are not over. Hang in there and finish the race.

Never beat yourself up, because there are plenty of people that will do it for you.

I hit a one-yard draw in there.

You've got to figure out what works best for you. That's the hard part. I know I can't play as stoic as Hogan, and I can't talk as much as Trevino. You have to be your own person.

I don't just want to be the best black player or the best Asian player. I want to be the best golfer ever.

I'll tell you what, I've been in some seriously bad places playing golf and it's just part of the game.

Golf is something I do selfishly for myself.

Winning is not always the barometer of getting better.

Winning takes care of everything.

The joy I get from winning a major championship doesn't even compare to the feeling I get when a kid writes a letter saying: 'Thank you so much. You have changed my life.'

I'm trying as hard as I possibly can each and every day to get my life better and better and stronger. And if I win championships along the way, so be it.

I think the guys who are really controlling their emotions ... are going to win.

My mind is my biggest asset. I expect to win every tournament I play.

You can win all the tournaments you want, but the majors are what you're remembered for. It's how you're measured as a champion in our sport. The majors are where it's at.

Under pressure, you can win with your mind.

The biggest thing is to have a mind-set and a belief you can win every tournament going in.

I love to play to win.

I don't know if I even have an aura, man. I just try to win.

There's no sense in going to a tournament if you don't believe that you can win it. And that is the belief I have always had. And that is not going to change.

The most important thing to me is winning tournaments. I love winning.

I believe that my creative mind is my greatest weapon.

I am the toughest golfer mentally.

A golfer should never make a mental mistake because the ball is just sitting there waiting for you to hit it.

It provides a different type of element and mental strain athletes love. That's what makes the game of golf so special.

It turned out to be a great week. I didn't really have my best stuff this week but I hung in there with my mind and hit some good shots when I needed to.

It's just a matter of, for me, getting my mind where it needs to be. Certainly I've made a lot of adjustments in my life, and I've gone through a lot. A lot.

My mind is my biggest asset.

I've been going to chiropractor for as long as I can remember. It's as important to my training as practicing my swing.

I've always known where I wanted to go in life.

I know that balance that I need to have in my life.

If you're lucky to have three close people in your life, you're blessed.

I feel like my life is pretty special.

As a kid when I was growing up, as any kid, you think you know everything and I was no different to that.

All that really matters is I have two beautiful kids, and I'm trying to be the best dad I can possibly be, and that's the most important thing of all.

Golf is a very serious part of my life, but when you stop having fun at it, that's when it's time to hang it up.

I've done some pretty bad things in my life.

I was living a life of a lie, I really was.

In therapy I have learned the importance of keeping spiritual life and professional life balanced. I need to regain my balance.

I stopped living according to my core values. I knew what I was doing was wrong but thought only about myself and thought I could get away with whatever I wanted to.

I don't get to live by different rules. The same boundaries that apply to everyone apply to me.

I ran straight through the boundaries a married couple should live by.

Personal sins should not require press releases and problems within a family shouldn't have to mean public confessions.

I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart.

I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves.

I hurt my wife, my kids, my mother, my wife's family, my friends, my foundation and kids all around the world who admired me.

The virtue of privacy is one that must be protected in matters that are intimate and within one's own family.

My mother was right when she said that turning pro would take away my youth.

Mom was the one I was always afraid of. Yeah, you have no idea how competitive my mom is. She would watch me compete living every moment, live I mean die on every shot.

I am deeply aware of the disappointment and hurt that my infidelity has caused to so many people, most of all my wife and children.

I will have to earn trust and respect from my kids.

My dad was my best friend and greatest role model. He was an amazing dad, coach, mentor, soldier, husband and friend.

My dad used to say, 'Just because you dress up in a coat and tie, it doesn't influence your intelligence.'

My father is hanging in there. The guy is an absolute fighter and walking miracle.

I always come from the truth.

I don't believe that human beings can achieve ultimate enlightenment, because humans have flaws.

I am not without faults and I am far short of perfect.

Sensationalism sells: Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story.

You have to look at the past in order to learn from it and move on.

If you can't laugh at yourself, who can you laugh at?

If you come in second, you're the first loser!

My instincts have never lied to me.

I was playing cricket first and my cricket coach was the one that introduced me to track and field.

I don't listen to music before a race - my coach doesn't like it, he thinks I might lose my focus and concentration.

I had thought that I would stop in 2017, but my coach has told me to stop saying that as I may continue into 2018. I'm not thinking about it at the moment.

My coach told me if I broke the national record for the 200, I could run a 100.

The older I get, the less I am bothered by talk like that. I have total faith in my coach Yohan Blake, total faith.

I try to focus and compete and do positive things for the sport.

For me, I'm focused on what I want to do. I know what I need to do to be a champion, so I'm working on it.

No matter who you are, no matter what you're doing, no matter how focused you are, no matter how ready you think you are, your not gonna catch me.

I really want to try soccer after I retire because I've watched football over the years and I think I could be a good contender.

I play football every Tuesday and Thursday early in the season. I am smart enough at the game. I score a lot of goals. I wouldn't be the best in the world but I am OK.

I know what I can do, so I never doubt myself.

Cristiano is better than Messi, without a doubt. He's more of an all-round player.

Yeah, I am lazy. There's no doubt about that.

If I get to be a legend, I've achieved my goal.

You have to set yourself goals so you can push yourself harder. Desire is the key to success.

I looked up to Don Quarrie and Michael Johnson when I was younger. They were the best in the 200m which was my main event growing up.

Track and field was very big when I was growing up.

Come on... when you're running, if you see you're going to win, you're going to celebrate.

Sleep is extremely important to me - I need to rest and recover in order for the training I do to be absorbed by my body.

At the end of the season, I normally get some time off training and can go on vacation and enjoy myself.

Train hard, turn up, run your best and the rest will take care of itself.

The important thing was that I got the win. It's good for confidence and the season.

A few people have said I should let you win.

We may not win, but we would have a lot of fun [in 4x400m relay team].

I love competing. I am so competitive. I definitely need to win because I hate losing. I am the type who if I know I will lose I won't compete.

I stopped worrying about the start. The end is what's important.

Worrying gets you nowhere. If you turn up worrying about how you're going to perform, you've already lost.

The value of a college education is not the learning of many facts but the training of the mind to think, he [Einstein] said.

To dwell on the things that depress or anger us does not help in overcoming them. One must knock them down alone.

A society's competitive advantage will come not from how well its schools teach the multiplication and periodic tables, but from how well they stimulate imagination and creativity.

I believe that love is a better teacher than a sense of duty, he said, at least for me.

Politics is for the present, while our equations are for eternity.

I believe that the most important mission of the state is to protect the individual and to make it possible for him to develop into a creative personality.

science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind.

The most beautiful emotion we can experience is the mysterious. It is the fundamental emotion that stands at the cradle of all true art and science.

During the crossing, Einstein explained his theory to me every day, and by the time we arrived I was fully convinced that he really understands it.

It is tasteless to prolong life artificially, he told Dukas. I have done my share, it is time to go. I will do it elegantly.

Einstein was asked what the next war would look like. I do not know how the Third World War will be fought, he answered, but I can tell you what they will use in the Fourth—rocks.

Imagination is more important than knowledge.

Since the mathematicians have grabbed hold of the theory of relativity, I myself no longer understand it.

When a person can take pleasure in marching in step to a piece of music it is enough to make me despise him. He has been given his big brain only by mistake.

A new idea comes suddenly and in a rather intuitive way, Einstein once said. But, he hastened to add, intuition is nothing but the outcome of earlier intellectual experience.

A foolish faith in authority is the worst enemy of truth.

Falling in love is not the most stupid thing that people do, Einstein scribbled on the letter, but gravitation cannot be held responsible for it.

Subtle is the Lord, but malicious he is not.

The value of a college education is not the learning of many facts but the training of the mind to think.

Use for yourself little, he said, but give to others much.

Blind respect for authority is the greatest enemy of truth.

Physics should represent a reality in time and space, free from spooky action at a distance.

I think one problem we've had is that people who are smart and creative and innovative as engineers went into financial engineering.

Smart people are a dime a dozen. What matters is the ability to think different... to think out of the box.

I think right now we need to look back at the founding values of our country. Rise above partisanship, be less bitter when it comes to important matters that have to be solved.

I think when money starts to corrupt journalism, it undermines the journalism, and it undermines the credibility of the product, and you end up not succeeding.

What Einstein was able to do was - to use a cliche - think out of the box.

I think it's very important to have a sense of balance in covering the war, but you don't have to be morally neutral about terrorism.

I do think it's important, if you're going to be very creative, to be a seeker.

I think that Benjamin Franklin felt very strongly in foreign policy in this world, that you needed to at least show some humility, especially when you were strong.

I don't think there was enough skepticism because I think most of us kind of believed that Saddam Hussein was building biological, chemical, and perhaps even, nuclear weapons.

I think that we shouldn't be fixated all the time on the ups and downs of the weekly ratings, of the quarter-hour ratings.

I think that's exactly what Silicon Valley was all about in those days. Let's do a startup in our parents' garage and try to create a business.

I think it is valuable and should be valued by its consumers. Charging for content forces discipline on journalists: they must produce things that people actually value.

I think it's important for CNN to get out as much as possible from the Washington-New York axis, ... This is not some big strategic shift to New York.

I think we're trying as much as possible to be part of the heart and soul of Aspen.

I think this problem could be solved in 20 minutes. It's low-hanging fruit and not that expensive.

I think the McCain and Lieberman talk about the need for civility in public discourse is right at the core of our mission.

I think that genius comes not just from having great mental processing power. It comes from being able to, as Steve Jobs' ad said, think differently.

...never let a passion for the perfect take precedence over pragmatism.

If you truly have a passion for what you do, you will care even about the parts unseen.

I think that notion of being a seeker, somebody who never felt totally fulfilled, but was always passionate about the search, that comes from the background, probably.

An exciting new prospect for what I want to do with the next phase of my life.

I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life and no idea how college was going to help me figure it out.

There are parts of his life and personality that are extremely messy, and that's the truth.
